A takeaway from one of our visitors…

…We will always tell you what to expect at our marketingSHOWCASE events. But we’ve been doing this a long time. And we’re biased! So we’ll leave it to one of our visitors, Ruchi R – website and digital and marketing lead:

“Had a great session at marketingSHOWCASE today on why your website might quietly be costing you leads. Sharing what stuck with me (I went to two other sessions too, will post about those separately).

1. Answer the questions before people even have to ask.

Think about what your sales team hears over and over on calls. “How much does it cost?”
“Do you deliver to my area?” If your website already answers that clearly, you’re saving everyone time. If it doesn’t, people just leave and find someone who does.

2. Can you explain your business in one sentence?

Genuinely, try it right now. If you can’t sum up what you do in 5 seconds, a stranger definitely can’t either. And here’s the tricky part: if your sales team describes the business one way and your website says something else, that mismatch confuses people before they’ve even had a chance to get to know you. It costs you more than a slightly-off colour palette ever will.

3. A messy website loses people fast.

Too many distractions, no clear focus, no obvious next step, and people just bounce. If someone lands on your page and doesn’t instantly know what to do next (call you, book a demo, buy something), they’ll leave. One clear next step really does beat ten vague options.

4. Look at engagement, not just traffic.

Knowing how many people visited your site doesn’t tell you much on its own. What actually matters is what they do once they’re there. Are they scrolling, clicking, sticking around? That’s the real signal.

5. Before you track any number, ask yourself why it matters.

It’s so easy to collect data just because you can. Instead, ask what you’d actually do with that number if you had it. If you can’t answer that, it’s probably not worth tracking. Actionable data beats data for data’s sake, every time.

SEO isn’t dead. Say less. Make it easier for people. Measure what matters. Then iterate.

We love visitors’ takeaways – it’s how we receive feedback for future events. And it shows that we’re doing a good job!
